Had a massage 2 weeks ago at hotel while on holiday and felt great afterwards. Going for another 1 next by a man my sister in law recommended. She says he gets right in about you. Does anyone get a massage regularly and do you think it helps to relax mind and body?

I haven't got one in a long time; but if the person knows what she/he is doing, it is definetely relaxing... also, it is time away from anything else when all you can do is let yourself go with the flow...

when i first started with the panic (due to celexa) i was having them every couple of hours around the clock. one night during those two weeks my husband did my back, shoulders and neck and i slept through the night that night. definitely did something to me.
once i went for reflexology which was super great. she did my back, etc. then i flipped and she did my arms, hands and fingers. felt soooo good and relaxing. you seriously have to chug a bunch of water after that, though. i didn't and felt totally hung over the next day from the toxins released. i must have been pretty toxic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Had my 2nd massage this week, the fella said he would take it easy, more just to see what I was like. He said he would not go to deep. It was good, and he wants me to go again in 2 weeks when he will give me a deeper massage. I do not know if I am looking forward to it or not. Could it be sore?

Go for it Jock. I haven't tried massage, I'm just throwing myself into exercise. If it is the same as exercise, you may be sore initially but you'll feel fantastic afterwards.

I'm in school getting my massage therapy license and I have to say that getting a massage can make a big difference. Most people I know with anxiety need some amount of deep tissue work. It can help relieve the foggy, groggy feelings that can accompany anxiety. One warning though, if you never had a deep tissue massage before you will probably feel pretty sick. I have a bad back and the first time I went in for a deep tissue I felt sick for almost a week... but for the two weeks after that my anxiety levels were drastically lower.

I forgot to tell you. When some one new has a special talent they have to use it to stay on this forum. That means you have to give everyone here a massage. Kind of like a forum initiation! Didn't you see that in the rules. lol Rob gives me deep massages with some compromise of course. They feel good and really takes the aches out of our poor tired body's. linder

I had a massage on Saturday and Oh wow... what a difference. I have had my share of massages and my husband does a great job but nothing like this one!!! It was a combo deep tissue/ shiatsu massage and I left feeling calmer, grounded, confident, rested and energetic all at once, still feeling the difference today. I guess it's has something to do with finding my ''chi'- inner balance. Didn't know I had lost it but man, what a difference! The massage therapist also told me to think light blue when I'm feeling tension in my sholders, haven't needed it yet, but will be sure to try it!

I think I'd rather get a massage once a week instead of seeing my therapist! LOL!

I agree, when I first had a massage I felt almost normal. Like if I got a few more massages I would get better. I noticed that a lot of people with anxiety have bad backs, I'm willing to bet that most people on this forum do.
