You Are Much Bigger Than Your Anxiety

I am guessing that there have been moments when your anxiety has gotten you down and you have asked yourself “why me?” “why do I have to  deal with an anxiety problem?”

It’s during moments like that when you need to step back and try to see the bigger picture of your life. Perspective really helps move you into a feeling of acceptance and when you come from acceptance, your anxiety dramatically decreases and you check in mentally less and less to see how you are feeling. Your attitude really does determine the speed of your recovery.

What we resist persists but what we accept goes through a positive transformation.

Nick Vujicic is an incredibly inspiring man. He completely transformed his life by a change in attitude. He still has no arms and no legs but his life is radically different.

This short video of him will move you into the bigger picture of your life and your challenges. It may be the most important video will see in 2011 and it is only 4 minutes long. Have a quick look then leave a comment below.

Yes I cried. This amazing man is so inspirational. I am scared of my own shadow! I wish I wasn’t. Yes it does make me feel very humble, ashamed and sad that I am not as brave as he is against all adversity.
    God love him.

Nick is such a good inspiration for school going children. His living example should open their eyes to the excessive comforts that they have today. Kids should learn to be content with what they have and to appreciate how lucky they have been.

    Dear Nick

My name is Michelle. I have suffered from crippling depression and anxiety for most of my life. I am 39 years old.

As I sit here writing this, tears are falling on my cheeks. I read your story and watched your video about your life, Nick, and I feel humbled and honoured to have seen what an amazing man you are!

There are no words to express the multitude of emotions that I feel right now.

I used to believe in God and then I started to hate him for making me suffer with my disabling illness. “Why me, I would shout at God, there is no god, why would you let me suffer so much?”

I can’t even find the words to begin to express how much admiration, and gratitude I feel since listening to your story.

I feel so stupid now that I have complained and hated God, when all I had to deal with was anxiety, whilst you have suffered, more than anyone I have ever seen, and yet you are still smiling, unbelievably, not angry with God or bitter or depressed for the hardships that you have had to endure!!

You were right, your story and video has had an unbelievable effect on me, like nothing that I have ever seen before.

Nick, you are the most handsome man and so incredibly special, beyond words!! The woman who does marry you, will be the luckiest girl in the world!! I certainly would feel this way.

As I watched you hug those high school children, I started to weep and haven’t been able to stop crying.
How I wish I could have been one of those students, who were so fortunate to meet you and hug you.

Nick, you are such an inspiration to all of us out there, to every person, who has the opportunity to hear your story, listen to you speak and “meet” you.

I thank you so much for sharing your life with me.

    Best wishes always
    Michelle

I can understand the concept of accepting your anxiety and the feelings that come with it, but what I don’t understand is how to do this? I have social anxiety and when I get very nervous I turn all red and blotchy and this makes me very embarrassed and that’s when I want to hide and never show my face again. My self esteem and confidence are all affected by this. I worry that it is going to happen whenever I am with friends or family. Sometimes I feel like it happens even when I’m not thinking about it. I will happen to look at myself and I will be all red for no reason and I don’t know how to make this stop happening and until it dose I don’t want to be around anybody! It has affected my life in many ways from career to friendships and I have tried many things to no avail.

To people who aren’t getting how video can help them, I think the point is to never stop looking for answers, never give up,and don’t expect overcoming your obstacles to be easy, but know it can be done. If you think getting over your anxiety is impossible, it’s not. How many times do you think this guy was told he would never play golf, fish, do public speaking, you name it? But he did. Stop arguing for your limitations! That is what I think the message of this video is for you.

Thank you for sending this to me. I have been suffering from anxiety for 3 years now – some times it has been debilitating. I have been angry and screemed why? at God so many times but Nick’s testimony has brought a new perspective and I feel free to surrender to God’s will now. Thank you and bless you Nick for showing the wonder of God to so many people.

Nick is an inspiration for everybody and shows how self belief is so valuable regardless of personal circumatances. Every person in this world has a flaw, some are just more visable than others but people should be assured that nobody, I mean nobody in this world is perfect.
